Family or Pro, which do you choose?
Why do I see different names?
Why are there 2 prices for each?
Throughout our Support forums and Tutorial videos, you will encounter different names for each of the Workspace alternatives. Below we clarify:
Workspace Family = The account used by most families with a single end user. All Workspace accounts include Library Sharing
Workspace Pro = The Professional version allows you to manage multiple clients, students or patients on a single account. Do not select Workspace pro unless you are a family that has used MyTalk extensively and understand how the pro version works.
You have 2 purchase alternatives: Buy Now or 'Buy 1 Year Access Now'
1. Buy now = Lifetime Purchase, not a subscription. Use the 'BUY NOW' to purchase lifetime access.
2. 'Buy 1 Year Access Now'. It is a one year extension of Workspace access with automatic extension unless cancelled. This is a subscription. This saves money initially, but will automatically renew at one year unless cancelled. is not a one-time purchase.
Managing clients, students, patients.
You will manage using two different approaches based on your end-user and their support group.
- Will the Family actively use Workspace along with the professionals?
This is less common but if yes, Workspace Family should be used. Funding for Workspace Family depends on local practice, but if the family must also program using Workspace you are forced into Workspace Family. Professional and family members share the MyTalk User name and Password. These families manage their own account and providing you access for remote programming using their User Name and Password. If you have more than one family using this approach you would manage a list of User names and passwords for these families. You the professional, with family, comprise a collaborative team doing board development on the web.
If families won't program or are content to program only in Mobile, they do not purchase Workspace or create a User Name. You will manage each end-user within your Workspace Pro account. On your Workspace Home Board (your list of clients) this end user will be one of your 'board names'. More on that in the other tutorials.
Family members will be only be able to add content using Author mode on the Mobile device. They have not purchased a Workspace account, and they do not have access to your web based Workspace Pro account. The account is funded by you, the school or other funding group for a 1 time charge of $119.99 for lifetime access and multiple end user capabilities. You do not provide your User Name and password to end user families because providing your User Name and password would provide access to the other clients' (students, patients) boards within your account.
Bottom line for professionals?
- Manage your clients within your professional account
- Manage the list of User Names and Passwords for your end-user's with their own Workspace account.
- Use Library Sharing to easily transition between the two!
