MyTalk has done it again. I have been so swamped with a busy 2011-2012 academic year that I had not been able to explore copying cells and what they could mean for a teacher.
After making cells for teaching a concept, the same cells can be used for assessment!
Ask a question and give three choices.
If a student gets the correct answer, that leads to a happy picture and happy sound of your choice.
Then have a child board off that happy indicator that leads to the same three answers in different positions.
If a student doesn’t get the correct answer, that choice disappears and the correct and the other incorrect answer remain.
If a student selects the incorrect answer again, it will disappear and only the correct answer will be left.
It can again lead to the same choices in different positions.
This mimics the alternate testing that my state requires since it has three choices and uses pictures.
I work with students with severe cognitive disabilities and I use MyTalk in my class for individual students to actively participate as the others students watch on my media screen via an LCD projector and Apple TV. The repetition and the active participation help move information into long term memory.
