Hi! I just wanted to share my experiences with My Talk Tools so far. I'm a SLP who's very familiar with most of the communication devices out there, both dynamic and static. When one of my non-verbal client's family came to me and said they'd bought their son an iPad, I was thrilled and immediately began searching for a communication app. I looked at every one out there, but didn't see anything that made me excited - until I ran across the My Talk Tools. What I liked about this app was its ability to make a number of levels of a communication board, the ease of making a large home button (since my client has vision issues as well), and the flexibility of making it a 2 button, 4 button or 9 button board. I also love the ease with which you can upload personally relevant photos to the libraries.
My client has thrived since starting this app. On the home page, I have cells for "Wants," "About me," "Therapies," "School," and "Hi." Each of these pages links to a different page where he can make more refined choices. In his "Books" page, he has 6 choices of responses or questions he can ask, such as "That's awesome," or "That's so lame," or "Say it again!" My client loves how he can interact with the story AND with me or his reading partner now.
I think this app has so much potential, and have been really pleased with the prompt customer service when I've had questions. I was just at an AAC conference the other day and spoke up during a roundtable discussion on iPad apps about My Talk Tools and how terrific a product it is.
