I an both an autism specialist and a grandmother who has a non-autistic 13 year old granddaughter who is using MyTalk on her iTouch. This is the first augmentative communication device and system that my granddaughter has been willing to use. I think the "cool" factor is a part of the reason she likes it so much. The other factor is that it is so easy for her to use. I am in Iowa creating her boards and she is in Colorado using them. All this happens with a simple click on the sync button. She is always excited to get her latest "update" with the latest events in her life so she can tell her friends. We are also working with the school to get information on her device that she might need at school for that week.
During the summer, she had her iTouch stolen during camp. We were able to replace the iTouch and simply do a sync that brought back all of her boards! What a blessing!
When wearing my "professional" hat, I am able to share this technology with other professionals, teachers and parents. It has been very well received and the enthusiasm I have gained in working with my own granddaughter is easy to share!
