Eye Gaze via Workspace
Okay so Apple hasn't come out with eye gaze yet. There still is a way around it so you can use MyTalkTool through Workspace in the classroom as a true Universal Design tool. Yes, we already know that through Workspace one can have active boards on an interactive smart board. There's more.
By using a Surface with the full OS one can use a Tobii PCEye Mini to have a fully active MyTalkTools board. It is super easy and there isn't any need for any special software other than what comes with the Tobii. Calibrate, select mouse emulation, click and away you go.
I was convinced when I visited a student with Rhetts Syndrome and sat in front of her system. It captured my eyes without calibration. It has done so in my classroom too making it an easy tool to add into my bag of teaching tricks.
I teach music and use MyTalkTools as a tool for communication, assessment, and to allow students to participate as in "virtual" singing and playing via sound and video files I create.
One student was so excited to have independent control of something so dynamic for the first time he hyperventilated and almost threw up.
Thank you MyTalk for all you do to may my job easier and for facilitating customizable access for my students.
